Getting to Camp

Plan your journey to Camp Timber Trails. Here's what you need to know to prepare and pack. You can check your travel options and directions, and learn what to do when you arrive.

Prepare for Camp

Check the Camp Packing List for ideas on what to bring. Be prepared for the unique rural conditions of Camp Timber Trails!

Travel to Camp

Please carpool and coordinate airport arrival with other campers, as parking is limited and especially needed by some attendees. Leave extra travel time to arrive during daylight and within official orientation hours.

Sharing a Ride

Save money, gas, reduce carbon emissions, and make new friends by carpooling to Camp. Receiving, offering, or simply sharing a ride is a wonderful way to begin – or end – your Camp journey! There is a Ride-Share Board. Contact the Ride-Share Coordinator to get the link and instructions.

If you can’t find a match on the Ride-Share Board, regional ride coordinators will do their best to offer assistance matching cars with riders. If you are offering a ride, consider how much space you have in your vehicle, your gas costs, and whether you wish to have someone share the driving. Riding etiquette suggests anticipating your luggage needs and being ready to leave on time.

Arrival at Camp

Dance Camp opens to the community on Wednesday, August 5th, 2020, at 1 pm in the afternoon.

What to do when you arrive:

  • First thing: check in with Registration, sign up for chores, and get your wristband.
  • Next, find your tent site or cabin, unload your belongings promptly, and ask for help if you need it.
  • Move your car to the designated parking area.

After you’re all settled, you might want to walk the grounds, explore, and greet old and new friends!

WISH – Welcome, Inform, Support, and Hug!

WISH volunteers are at the entry to Camp greeting you during scheduled arrival times. They provide information about registration, parking, tenting, cabin space, etc.

Camp Map

Click here to access the Camp map. Your Orientation Booklet (“OBook”) will also include a map and there will be a large map in the Dining Hall.

Chore Philosophy

Every Camper is required to do chores. Chores are different from work exchange and volunteer positions.

Chores build community, keep Camp running smoothly, and ensure affordability. Choices include working in the kitchen, cleaning common areas, and generally helping to run Camp.

Contact Chores for any questions, including concerns about restrictions/disabilities.

OBook (Orientation Book)

After you check in and sign up for chores (including a take-down chore), you’ll receive your OBook. It contains information on classes, teachers, events, the full schedule, and a map of the Camp.

There is an abundance of information at your fingertips within the OBook. Please read it for all the new and essential information each year!

Insurance Waiver and Release Form

Dance New England’s liability insurance policy requires that we have everyone sign an insurance waiver — participants, staff, and parents/legal guardians of minors. You can specify if you do not want recognizable images of you or your children in our publicity.

Parent/guardian: If you have not done health/safety/permission forms and photo permissions online, you will need to submit YPP/Teen forms at check-in.

If you are going to be late or need to cancel your registration, contact the Registrar.

Parking

  • Parking is only allowed in the designated parking areas.
  • All vehicles at Camp must have a parking permit displayed on their dashboard, available from WISH or the Registration office.
  • Vehicles parked outside of approved areas could receive a written warning. If they are not moved in a timely fashion, they are subject to a $25 fine.
  • Only emergency vehicles or specially permitted vehicles will be allowed to stay on Camp in designated spots. You must contact Kelly Bitov by July 20 for permission
  • For Trailers/RVs/Vans: permission must be obtained prior to your arrival by contacting Kelly Bitov, Camp Coordinator. Please note: there are no utility hookups available for campers.
