Bookkeeper
I was introduced to DNE while at a conference in Cleveland, Ohio. My introduction, for lack of any other way of explaining it, was “Divine.” I was standing near the elevator, and two other colleagues who were also attending the conference were there as well. One asked me if I could have any job in the world, what would it be? Out of my mouth came the words, “A bookkeeper for a dance company.” The other colleague spun around and asked, “Are you serious?” I answered, “Yes.” And then she told me about a bookkeeping opportunity that DNE had available. It had apparently been advertised online for several months but was still unfilled. She gave the information, and I went from there.
There have been a few times in my life when I have spoken, and words have come out of my mouth, and I don’t know where they have come from. This was one of those times. I applied, had the interview, and the rest is history. At the time of this writing, I have not yet participated in the dance portion of Camp, but I look forward to it in the future. I was able to attend set-up for Camp in 2025, had a fantastic tour of Camp Timber Trails, and met many of the key organizers who run Dance New England. What a fantastic experience to finally meet many people and to tour the campus.
My experience with Dance New England, Inc. has been excellent. The community is terrific and keeps growing. Dance is so important in our world, and as the world continues to move forward with technology, from my perspective it is even more critical than ever to stay in contact with nature and our bodies. Dance is one of the universal languages that connects us all, and I look forward to seeing how DNE can continue to enhance this planet. I am grateful to be a part of this wonderful organization.
